MIXED FORTUNES

There were mixed fortunes for our 2 teams who took part in Round 2 of the County Cup competitions. The Under 14's playing at home to Gomersal & Cleckheaton found themselves 3-0 down at half time, but a tremendous 2nd half fightback made it 3-3 before their opponents scored 2 late goals to run out 5-3 winners. The Under 12's who were away to Batley Phoenix were once again involved in a penalty shootout to decide the result. Anthony Mbubue put Bingley ahead early in the game but Batley were the better team in the first half and deserved to be level at half time. The 2nd half was evenly contested with both sides scoring a 2nd goal. Bingley's came via the penalty spot from Jason Mitchell. Twenty minutes of extra time couldn't separate the sides so the game went to penalties. Matthew Brian, Jamal Raja & Ethan Brodigan were all successful from the spot. Alex Haluszcak in goal for Bingley made 3 tremendous saves to see us through by 3 penalties to 2. So we move onto the 3rd Round.

THE NEW BECKHAM ?

It is always nice when one of our players gets an opportunity to join a professional football club. Jack Jones who plays for our Under 12's has recently been training with both Leeds United and Burnley. On Sunday he received the great news that he has been signed on by Burnley. We all wish him well. THERE HAS BEEN A LAST MINUTE CHANGE TO THIS. BURNLEY DELAYED THE SIGNING, LEEDS NIPPED IN AND BEAT THEM TO IT, SO JACK IS NOW WITH LEEDS UNITED. They won in his first game 3-1 to Hull City.

Model Girls

The celebrations of the girls sections has been recognised by the West Riding Girls Football League. Photos of two of the girls have been used by the West Riding Football League on their website. www.wrgfl.co.uk. Their pictures have been used in the side banners on news sections and show Lilly Chattoe and Lauren Hebden celebrating during a match last season. Its a great photo and emulates the fun that the girls have in playing football.
